Why Church?

Why Church?

Throughout the Bible, it is evident that the church is established by Christ, loved by Christ and part of God’s plan for humanity. God is building His Church throughout the earth and each local church is a part of His work globally. We believe, according to the scripture, that God establishes His Kingdom on earth primarily through His Church, and that every believer should be involved in the local church. We gather as a church weekly because of God’s promise in Isaiah 43, “They that gather together before the Lord shall have their strength renewed.”

Three main reasons for being involved in a local church:

1. Jesus said that it is He who builds the church.

“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” – Matthew 16:18

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.” – Ephesians 2:19-22 ESV

2. Jesus also refers to His church as His “bride” which shows the great love and affection He has for the church.

“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.” – Ephesians 5:25-27 ESV

3. Jesus is also called the head of the church.

“Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything.” – Colossians 1:18 NLT
